Mercedes S-Class to Feature 3.0-L Twin-Turbo V6
Last week Mercedes-Benz officially announced that the 2014 Mercedes S-Class will feature a 4.7-L V8 engine. Other than the brand’s 3.6-L V6 this model will gain a new entry-level engine later this year.
The 2014 S-Class which will be sold in other markets will feature different powerplants. These include a hybrid 3.5-L V6, a 3.0-L V6 turbo diesel and a hybrid 2.1-L, four-cylinder turbo diesel. The German automaker will later release the high-performance S63 AMG with the S600 and S65 AMG models later next year.
The S-Class will also gain a 3.0-L twin turbo V6 along with all these other engine options. This engine is similar to the one on the E400. This is a vital engine for the Chinese market, but it could come to America eventually. The V6 turbo will feature in the E-Class coupe and convertible initially in 2015. It will replace the 3.5-L V6. The E400 which is powered by the 3.0-L V6 produces an estimated 329 hp and 354 lb-ft of torque.
