Aston Martin is fighting back against Lamborghini, Ferrari and Mercedes-Benz. The new V12 Vantage S has 565 horsepower and can hit 205 mph, making it more than a match for cars like the Gallardo, 458 Italia, and SLS AMG. Set to arrive early next year, the order books for the V12 Vantage S are already open.

In its 100 years of existence, this is officially the second fastest production car to come from the pedigreed stables of Aston Martin. The 2015 V12 Vantage S ranks only behind the extremely limited-production (and now discontinued) One-77 supercar in terms of sheer pace and performance.
Fitted with a new 6.0-liter V-12, the engine delivers 565-hp and 457 lb.-ft. of torque. That’s a significant jump from the previous 510-hp V-12-powered version of the Vantage. A similarly new 7-speed semi-automatic gearbox has been added to the V12 Vantage S.

This transmission has one extra gear – versus the outgoing 6-speed – and offers quicker gear changes which, according to Aston Martin, require “only milliseconds of torque interruption” between shifts. The unit is also 55 lbs. lighter than the 6-speed transmission it replaces.
The sports exhaust fitted to the V12 Vantage S is derived from the lightweight system used in the One-77 hypercar. That (now discontinued) model, you might remember, cost approximately $1.4 million. If you're going to borrow something, borrow from the best!

A three-stage adaptive damping system offers settings for ‘Sport’, ‘Track’ and ‘Normal’ modes. Other than tuning the suspension to suit the driving scenario, the system also meters out the correct level of power assistance to the steering. A separate ‘Sport’ mode button on the dash further enhances the throttle response, shift speeds, and the exhaust note.

Speaking of exhausts, the system fitted to the V12 Vantage S is derived from the one found on the One-77 supercar. To keep the V-12 cool, Aston has also equipped the V12 Vantage S with a new carbon fiber grille to maximize airflow to the engine bay.
Aston Martin has not revealed exact pricing. However, with the price of the previous Vantage V12 starting at roughly $180,000, it’s safe to assume the V12 Vantage S will break the $200,000 barrier.
